Aunt Jane also has a most beautiful small Pony named Charlotte. She has beautiful tan and white markings and a lot of hair in the winter time. There is also a mild mannered little black and white cat named Rusty, and many toads of all sizes in the spring and summer. The Praire has a beautiful garden and many wonderful creatures to be found there and on the acreage. Felicia also imagines special roles for the toads, Charlotte, and Rusty on the acreage. So, this is the story of Felicia and her Family and the wonderful creatures that live in Felicia’s Turquoise Prairie. Please read on for Felicia’s adventures.
Chapter 1. Felicia Imagines New Names for All That Live in the Turquoise Prairie.
Felicia is enjoying one very warm and calm Spring day at Aunt Jane’s acreage or as Felicia calls it, the “Emerald Prairie”. The calm wind is nice because central Oklahoma can be very windy in the Spring. Felicia is thinking about all the wonderful critters that belong to Aunt Jane and the acreage and decides to give them special names. Chewy is always good and kind to all creatures and loved being where-ever Aunt Jane and Pete were. So, he will be called “Good Chewy”. Flora is also known as being very mild mannered and kind and will be known as “Flora the Protector”. Tori is the smallest Sheltie and loves everyone, but especially Flora. Tori investigates everything on the acreage and even the toads of all sizes. But, Tori never hurt the toads and is always gentle to them. So, she will be called “ The Queen of the Toads”. Charlotte is Aunt Jane’s “Faithful Little Filly”. And Rusty is usually in the stable with Charlotte and he makes sure everything is in order. So, he shall be the “Rusty the Keeper of the Stable”. There is one large toad that Felicia sees almost every day in the Spring and Summer. So she named him “Ivan the Supreme Toad”. Ivan was the fastest toad in the garden and he kept order there and in the streams that flowed through the acreage. All of the smaller toads look to Ivan for guidance.
The last, but not least, person that needs a new name is her big Brother, Pete. Pete is always wanting to play jokes and scare Felicia and Aunt Jane. He thinks that it is fun. But, it is not always fun for Felicia and Aunt Jane. So, Felicia thinks that he should become “Rascally Pete”. Now that Felicia had used her imagination to re-name the inhabitants of the Turquoise Prairie she will be ready for a new adventure and be surprised by a new name for herself.
Chapter 2. Felicia Becomes “Felicia Princess of the Boot”.
It is another nice day at Aunt Jane’s acreage, the Emerald Prairie. It is summer vacation from school and Felicia and Pete are spending the day at Aunt Jane’s. They have just eaten breakfast and are helping Aunt Jane clean up the dishes. The kitchen chores are done and everyone has places to be on the acreage.
Aunt Jane goes out to work in the garden and Flora and Tori go out with her. Aunt Jane had a chain link fence installed around her house and garden and stable so that the Shelties could explore with everyone and be safe. Pete is heading outside with Chewy following him and Felicia decides to go check on Charlotte in the stable. Felicia has dressed ready to take Charlotte on a nice walk on the acreage this morning. She has already asked Aunt Jane’s permission to do this. But, first she needs to give Charlotte a nice brushing and let her have the carrot that Felicia has brought from the kitchen. Rusty finds himself a nice wooden box to rest on. The box has some of Charlotte’s horse blankets stored on top and Rusty loves to lay on them. Felicia finishes brushing Charlotte and her coat has a most beautiful sheen to it. Felicia slips the halter around Charlotte’s neck. They are just about ready for their walk. Charlotte is very calm and not much bigger than Felicia and they both have had many lessons on getting ready for walks from Aunt Jane. Felicia is always making sure to practice good safety measures for her and Charlotte’s benefit.
Felicia and Charlotte go out of the stable. Rusty decides to stay and sleep. Felicia leads Charlotte down a path they normally follow. The green grass is not tall and there is a small beautiful stream on the path. The path makes a circle and ends up going around Aunt Jane’s garden as it leads back to the stable. Just as Felicia and Charlotte are approaching the stream, they both see a beautiful little rabbit pop up just by Charlotte’s hoof. It does not scare Charlotte but she steps back to not step on the rabbit and accidentally bumps Felicia. The ground was soft and Felicia falls on the soft grass. She thinks She has twisted her leg. Felicia is able to get up and Charlotte stands very still as she had been taught by Aunt Jane. When Felicia gets back up, her leg is really hurting. She can see Aunt Jane in the garden and calls out for her. Aunt Jane comes running over and helps Felicia and Charlotte back to the stable. She has Felicia sit on Rusty’s box while she gets Charlotte back in her stall.
Felicia can walk back to the house, but her leg is very sore. Aunt Jane calls Felicia’s Parents and they along with Pete get all the Shelties back in their kennels in the house and head into town to the Doctor’s office. The Doctor examines Felicia’s leg and decides that she needs to wear a protective boot for her leg to heal. Felicia does not like wearing the boot. She thinks it is hard to walk with and is hard to get on and off. She is kind of sad. That is when Aunt Jane and Pete get together and decide to tell Felicia that she will now be known as “Felicia Princess of the Boot”. Since Felicia had always wished to be a princess, she really likes that name and the boot is not as bad as she had thought. And, that is how Felicia becomes “Felicia Princess of the Boot”. What will Felicia’s next adventure be?
Chapter 3. Felicia and Pete Have some Explaining to Do.
It is kind of a windy day at Aunt Jane's acreage. It is towards the end of Summer vacation and Felicia has finally gotten the boot off of her foot and She and Pete are anxious about School starting and do not want Summer to end. Felicia will be in 2nd grade and Pete will be in 5th grade. They both love their Schools and have many Friends. But, it will mean getting up really early to catch the School bus and having to pay attention all day long. So, Felicia and Pete decide to enjoy a vacation day on the acreage as long as they can.
Aunt Jane advises them that it is really windy outside. But, Felicia and Pete head out anyway. There are adventures to enjoy today. Pete heads out first and He and Felicia both try to go out the back door at the same time and they get a scolding from Aunt Jane. " Be careful going out that door. You all will break it and the Shelties are right behind you". Aunt Jo hears "Sorry".
Pete runs as fast as he can ahead of Felicia with Chewy and Tori following him and they all disappear. Felicia and Flora head to the stable to see Charlotte and soon Tori joins them. Tori sees Rusty and they start to play. Tori and Rusty are both small and they are good playmates. Charlotte jerks her head up and down and whinnies in excitement to see Felicia. And, Charlotte sees Aunt Jane coming into the stable also to feed her a small bucket of grains. Charlotte is really happy now. Felicia says that she can feed Charlotte and Aunt Jane thanks her and says to get Pete to help her. But, there is still no sign of Pete or Chewy.
Felicia hears the wind blowing and thinks that it sounds louder than when they entered the stable. She also hears a funny noise but cannot make out what it is. Tori looks up and barks a couple of times. But, Tori stays with Felicia and Flora. Charlotte has a nice glass window with shutters. And it can be opened so she can look out into her paddock. It happens that Charlotte's window was open today. Charlotte is too hungry to be bothered by any of the strange noises. Felicia really is wondering now why the noises are getting louder. But, she also needs to change out yesterday's water in Charlotte's bucket and get her food bucket. Felicia hangs Charlotte's bucket of grains on the wall of her stall, and she goes to get the water bucket. There is just a small amount of water left in the water bucket and Felicia decides to just toss it out the window on the grass. She thinks to herself that Aunt Jane would not like this, but she tosses it out anyway. All of the sudden she hears Pete yelling "what are you doing pouring that water on me?" Tori and Flora start to bark. Felicia says " I was just pouring out Charlotte's old drinking water. Where were you Pete? I did not see you by the window? Pete says, Oh, never mind." Felicia is confused and puts the bucket down and walks out of the stable to the outside of the building near the window and finds a big stick and some dirt marks on the outside wall. Felicia knew then that it was Pete making those noises. She thought to herself, " He really is rascally."
Felicia gets Charlotte a clean bucket of water and and makes sure her stall door is closed tight and she and Flora and Tori walk back to the house. They find Pete and Chewy, both wet, on the porch and Aunt Jane is asking how that happened. Pete is just about to give an answer and Felicia says, " I know. Pete was trying to scare me while Tori and Flora and I were in the stable with Charlotte. I did not know that he was hiding underneath the window outside making noises on the wall when I threw Charlotte's old water out the window." Aunt Jane said, " Felicia why were you throwing water out of the window instead of taking it outside the stable and pouring it on the grass? And Pete, I have told You many times to stop trying to scare everyone. And, you got Chewy wet too!" Pete, your punishment is go clean the dirt off the outside wall under Charlotte's window. And, Felicia your punishment is to make sure that Chewy is dried off with a towel and clean before he comes in the house." Pete and Felicia both took their punishment with out any arguments. Actually, it was not a punishment for Felicia. She loves Chewy. What will be the next adventure for Felicia, the Princess of the boot?
